Oscar Wilde’s idea in his fairy tale was to make them such as he was himself - an outstanding and extremely deep - an outline traced in all his tales. Each word in a fairy tale is a symbol. It was his way of writing that makes translator job complicated. The aim of the research is to discover the peculiarities of Oscar Wilde’s fairy tales translation into Russian. For analysis the following works of Oscar Wilde: “The Selfish Giant”, “The Devoted Friend” and “The Happy Prince” translated by T. Ozerskaya and K. Chukovsky were selected. The principal methods used in the article are comparative, descriptive and structural. Finally, the change in the word order and also sentences division into several small sentences in Russian, that transform Wilde’s fairy tales beyond recognition were remarked. Russian translations of Wilde’ fairy tales are also deprived of a lot of meanings as a result of substitution of the English expressions that are characteristic of Russian literary tradition. The omission of minor details also influences the transmission of meaning and forming a positive impression of the reader.
