Nové litostratigrafické jednotky magurského príkrovu na Orave (Vonkajšie Západné Karpaty)
Abstract
The defiition of two new lithostratigraphic units was one of the results of geological research of the Biela Orava region. The Oravské Veselé Mb. was defied as a new lithostratigraphic unit in the southern part of the Bystrica Unit, where an increased occurrence of Magura type greywacke sandstones was recorded within the Bystrica Mb. of the Zlín Formation. We characterize them lithofacially as an alternation of the Magura type greywacke sandstones, quartzy glauconite sandstones and Bystrica type mudstones. Their age is middle to late Eocene. The Újezd Mb., as a revised lithostratigraphic unit, is a member of the Zlín Formation of the Bystrica and Rača units. Lithofacially, it is the combination of Bystrica Mb. (quartzy glauconite sandstones and Bystrica type mudstones) and the laterally occurring Beloveža Formation (thin-bedded flysch). Their age is middle to late Eocene.
