Abstract
Within the framework of a research on the strategies of dynastic legitimation, this article presents a morphological and symbolic analysis of these practices, based on one example. In 1662, on the stage of Pontifical Rome, France and Spain competed. The celebrations of princely births, made up of rituals and religious ceremonies, profane and always political, used the same places for pyrotechnic spectacles, sumptuous scenographies by famous artists, in the public space of a court society where the festival was used as an instrument of representation and communication. Written and figurative documents are utilized.
