Multifaceted hyperuricemia: modern approaches to diagnosis from the asymptomatic stage and the choice of treatment strategy
Abstract
On May 24, 2021, within the framework of the IX Eurasian Congress of Cardiology, a symposium «Multifaceted Hyperuricemia»was held online with the assistance of the Egis company. The experts discussed the key points in the diagnosis and treatment of asymptomatic and clinically overt hyperuricemia, as well as the existing discrepancies in foreign and Russian clinical guidelines regarding the level of uric acid in the blood serum, upon reaching which it is necessary to start drug therapy. The questions of the pathogenesis of hyperuricemia, its connection with type 2 diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension, chronic kidney disease and a number of other diseases were not ignored. The speakers dwelt in detail on the possibilities of normalizing the uric acid indicator through diet and lifestyle modifications (reducing excess body weight, expanding the patient's motor activity) and especially noted that patients who are compliant with therapy achieve great success in the fight against hyperuricemia, which can have a beneficial effect on reducing the risk of developing diseases associated with it, including gout, nephrolithiasis, chronic renal failure, etc.
