FATORES DETERMINANTES NA ESCOLHA DO CURSO DE CIÊNCIAS CONTÁBEIS POR ESTUDANTES DE INSTITUIÇÕES DE ENSINO SUPERIOR PARTICULARES NA CIDADE DE SÃO PAULO

Abstract

Many things affect the choice for a career: parents, friends, a person ́s job and even talent.Concerning this, in Accountancy scenario, many acting areas can be detected and influencethe choice for a career. In this context, the aim of this research was to identify and analysewhat influences the choice of first semestre students for the Accountancy course in privateUniversities in São Paulo city. It was two-step, descriptive and quali quanti investigation. In-depth interviews were made with six students of two Universities, and the data was treatedunder Content Analysis. The interviews ́ results were important for preparing a questionnaireapplied to 123 students from three Universities. The questionaires ́answers were treated underthe Descriptive Analysis and the Cluster Analysis. The results show that the most relevantthings for the choice of a career are employability and career ́s perspective. Moreover, parentsdid not influence direclty in the student ́s choices.
