The article is dedicated to the problem of reality refraction in our consciousness in the form of concepts, represented at the linguistic level by phraseological units. Cognitive linguistics focuses on the typology of knowledge and its representation at the conceptual and language levels. Conceptualization establishes a connection between language units and concepts, demonstrating the representation of knowledge that can be comprehended in various cognitive contexts. The relevance of the article is determined by a multilevel theory of language units` meanings, and it lies in the study of conceptual structures underlying the phraseological units with onyms. The aim of the article is to study concepts` representation by phraseological units with onyms as a matrix format of knowledge. The author underlines the matrix format of cognitive knowledge. Cognitive matrix unites different cognitive context which determine the formation and understanding of phraseological units with onyms` meaning. As a result of the research, the author differentiates three levels of conceptualization of phraseological units with onyms based on the knowledge about the cognitive mechanisms that form the meanings of phraseological units. The research perspective represents the fourth group of onyms, not so recurrent, but containing intertextual components producing intertextual concepts.
