The Banality of Police Violence against Poor and Black Young People Living on the Periphery of Fortaleza City
Abstract
The paper examines the relationship between the police and the young people on the outskirts of Fortaleza, Ceará. The paper's relevance is dealing with the narratives of police officers and teenagers involved in a local reality marked by rights' violations and police abuses. For the population living on the peripheries of Brazilian cities, the criminalization and discrimination of poor and black young people, residents of these stigmatized territories, has already became too banal.
