In this study we analyzed the relationship between organizational factors and the entrepreneurial competencies of seventy-three coordinators graduate courses in three universities of Santa Catarina, Brazil. The factors evaluated were: managerial support, freedom at work, rewards, time available and uncertainties in organizational tasks. The competencies considered were: seeking opportunities and initiatives; running calculated risks; demand for quality and efficiency, persistence, commitment, search for information, establishing goals, and planning and systematic monitoring. The methodological procedures included the techniques of exploratory factor analysis, multiple regression and canonical analysis. The results of the canonical analysis revealed a positive relationship between the constructs, and the multiple regressions improved the understanding of what are the most significant organizational factors. The higher recurrence rate in the regressions was the uncertainties in organizational tasks, which indicates the importance of the clarity of the rules and decisions of higher bodies. The competence that requires greater number of factors to manifest was running calculated risks, i.e. for a coordinator to run the risk of proposing and coordinating a course, need to feel unequivocally support of the direction.
