Within the framework of a teaching assistantship, carried out by three secondary school teachers, we discuss the possibility of integrating topics of physics and biology on the premises of adequate selected situations. We choose topics related to the human thermal regulation and its circulatory syste~, and also of other species. We discuss relevant aspects of significative learning and the physical concepts involved.We use the above results to analyze the previous knowledge of students in the physics teacher's school, on the topics of interest. On this basis we design sorne strategies to be used in the physics classroom. Some advance students implement new pedagogical strategies, changing the input of the proposal. We summarizeand discuss these results.
