Sur la piste du mort habillé
Abstract
Following the death of an individual, a human group gets busy to make mourning of it since taken care of death until the lapse of memory. This text deals with one of the first times of this funerary operational chain, that of the preparation and the toilet of the corpse through archaeological data obtained starting from organic matters trapped in metal furniture. After a presentation of the general principles and strategies put in work on the ground and laboratory to highlight these very particular vestiges, the case of a protohistoric grave exhumed in 2009 at the time of an excavation carried out on the commune of Gonesse (Val-d'Oise) offers a concrete application of the approach presented. The cross intervention of an archaeologist and a restorer makes emerge new data which open prospects for research specific to the funerary field, in particular about the modes of acquisition, selection and transformation of the organic raw materials.
