Strategies of Ural Industrial Workers Adaptation to Everyday Living Conditions of the War (1941–1945)
Abstract
The hardships of everyday life during the Great Patriotic war are on the sidelines of official memory. They have rarely been complained about or described in memoirs except for the contexts where they were described as what needed to be overcome to achieve victory. However, historical sources demonstrate that living conditions were a significant factor in the relations between the government and society as well as social relations. The article deals with the most urgent everyday problems of the industrial staff in the Urals in 1941-1945 and the ways of solving them. The author shows a variety of legal, illegal, individual and collective everyday life practices.
