The research was aimed at purification of thaw water samples by the cultivation of microalgae Chlorella vulgaris in Moscow climate conditions under natural illumination. Samples of thaw water were collected from the environment in the winter-spring period. The results show a decrease of total organic carbon content by 39% after cultivation. The final concentration of biomass in thaw water was higher than in control. The content of lipids after cultivation in thaw water and in control was 10.4 and 17.5% respectively.
