SUSTAINABILITY IN MANAGEMENT COURSES IN BRAZIL: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES AND PRME MEMBERS
Abstract
This article aims to: i) identify the panorama of the insertion of the sustainability theme in the courses of Administration of Brazilian public universities. ii) compare this panorama with the HEIs participating in the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) in Brazil. For this purpose, the curricular grids of the courses simultaneously present in the best ranked public universities in the Folha University Ranking (RUF) in 2019 were mapped. Among the main results, is the low proeminence of the theme of sustainability in the curricula in one of the regions of the country, the considerable incidence of optional subjects that address the theme, but do not guarantee the formation of the student, as well as the prominence of themes related to environmental management. In accordance with previous studies, the evidence from this research allows us to infer that education for sustainability, through curricular insertion, in undergraduate courses in Business Management at the best universities in the country, is still in its initial stages. The article also presents theoretical, practical and social implications, as well as suggestions for future research.
