A escola rural na produção acadêmica portuguesa: Apontamentos sobre a (in)visibilidade de um objeto de estudo
Abstract
This paper discus ses the invisibility of rural school in the Portuguese university. Although there is scientific production focused on rural and their sociocultural relations, which focu ses, directly or indirectly, on th e school, from the 1980s, with Pinto (1985), through Stoer and Araújo (1992) and Canário (1995), until the end of the 1990s, with Sarme nto, Sousa, and Ferreira (1998), the academic output does not fully discuss the rural school. It has not been up to the social, cultu ral and economic importance of that spa ce. The research occurs through a bibliographic study in ten scientific journals on education , and the survey of theses and disserta tions p roduced in the main Por tuguese universities. The data suggest a growing invisibility of the ru ral school in the academic literature and in specialized publications on educatio n in Portugal, and the absence of a social fo rce linked to the interests of the subjects of the countryside able to r einstate the interest of the university in the rural school.
