The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C18H17NO2, contains two independent molecules (A and B). The dihedral angle between the naphthalene ring system and the benzene ring is 74.67 (10)° in molecule A and 78.81 (9)° in molecule B. In the crystal, molecules are linked by a series of C—H...π interactions, forming sheets parallel to the ab plane.
