The truth about road accidents in Ocaña: a statistical-descriptive analysis
Abstract
The high accident rates that occur on the roads of the different areas urban areas in our country are growing every day. The entities in charge of carrying out management, monitoring and prevention against this phenomenon have taken measures but nevertheless these appear to be insufficient and in some cases they are implemented inadequately. Particularly in Ocaña, this phenomenon has a growing trend, affecting all kinds of road actors (drivers, passengers, pedestrians, among others), however there is no evidence clear of what the current state is, its characterization and how it has evolved, in addition to knowing if measures taken by government entities have been effective or not; therefore this research wants to show a statistical-descriptive perspective of the accident rate from a consolidated of road accidents that occurred between January 1, 2007 to January 31, 2014. Preliminary results show substantial year-over-year increases in the rates of accidents with peaks of high and low accident rate for certain periods of the day, as well as for different days of the week, main age groups vulnerable to this problem and the most dangerous vehicle.
