Aragon et Proust : il n’y a pas d’amour heureux
Abstract
Throughout his career, Louis Aragon’s remarks about Proust and his work were always characterized by highly critical, even virulent tones. However, the author of the Recherche is not as far away as one might think from the novelist of the Monde reel; in this essay, we will refer to notions of “revenance textuelle” and “réemploi”, proposed by Dominique Massonnaud, in order to show the similarities, as well as the differences, that relate Aurélien - the fourth novel of Aragon’s realist cycle - to the Recherche. In particular, our analysis will focus on the representation the two novels develop about love and about the beloved woman.
