Abstract

The following article aims to provide an overview of the “16+1” format, a major initiative of China in the Central and Eastern European region, subordinated to the “Belt and Road”, one of China’s most ambitious projects. Therefore, below are presented the stages of setting up this format, the measures proposed by the Chinese side at the time of the launch of the initiative, the cooperation mechanisms established in various fields with the CEE countries, and how this format is defined by the Chinese side.
