Evaluating migrant workers’ life quality at industrial parks in HoChiMinh City

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the change in life quality of migrant workers who are working at industrial parks in Hochiminh city at present and from the migration time to now. Through interviewing directly 516 migrant workers who experience more than 2 years at industrial parks in HoChiMinh city, and using method of descriptive statistics and Explanatory Factor Analysis (EFA), the study finds out that the migrant workers evaluate better their present life quality comparison with their life quality before migrating. However, comparison with two years ago, their present life quality is not change, and even some factors of life quality become worse. These results add the picture of migrant workers’ life quality in HoChiMinh City and suggest policy implications to solve migrant wokers’ present difficulties to improve their life quality
