Welcome Guide for families at the delivery area
Abstract
Childbirth is a natural and physiological process which involves pregnant women and their loved ones. This is the reason why health professionals should always implicate the family in our care.In our service, the delivery area, we consider the need to guide the family during labor. Thus the welcome guide was developed, as a tool for consensus and to provide written information to family members, so that they may contribute in a more active and respectful way during childbirth. The main objective of the welcome guide is engaging the companion active role, encouraging the establishing of an affective bond with the newborn and increasing the user satisfaction and their families in the experience of childbirth. A protocol has been developed taking into account the available literature on this topic. We have presented a protocol to the Commission of protocol to Hospital Virgen de la Victoria in Malaga for its evaluation and subsequent inclusion in the guide center protocols. Every year it will be performed an evaluation of the achievement of objectives, the guide will be updated. The collaboration of the families is necessary and it should be a complement to the care provided by health professionals at the delivery area.
