Comercio y espacio público. Una organización de ambulantes en la Alameda Central
Abstract
Thispaper analyzes the group of representations that leadthe conflict between the different social actors whohave a rivalry due to the appropriation and utilizationof public space. The social dynamics that establish theland rivalry are approached through the study ofthe impact that the urban regeneration programs havehad. Such programs were developed by the governmentwithin the frame of Mexico City’s Historical Center.Specifically, this article examines the representationsand social imaginary that give sense to the social prac-tices of an organization of ambulatory informal sellers,placed at the Alameda Central Park. As a result of arigid and limited economy, this organization has beendoing an economic activity that implies the use of thepublic space as its place to commercialize.
