La phraséologisation du temps ou comment dire le temps autrement

Abstract

The canonical definition of time does not include the particularities of linguistic time, which is closely linked to enunciation. In the case of the Spanish language, this definition is even less operative, since it does not take into account the enormous polysemy of the term tiempo or the interferences produced between the different meanings. Moreover, the secondary nature of the perception of this magnitude means that it often involves a cognitive process in which space is generally reinterpreted. In Spanish, however, the prototypical symbolic representation of chronic time only explains the image that underlies certain phraseological units. This article aims to examine the different ways in which the idealized cognitive model “time is space” is used to create the different phraseological units.
