In order to improve the design level of common aero vehicle (CAV), three parametric methods are used to carry out parametric modeling studies on two different types of CAV configurations. Combining engineering estimation methods and optimization algorithms, the aircraft configuration optimization with the goal of maximum lift-to-drag ratio and multi-objective design optimization with the goals of maximum lift-to-drag ratio, maximum volumetric efficiency and minimum heat flow are carried out respectively. The results show that the configuration with large maximum lift-to-drag ratio is often relatively slender, and the lift-to-drag ratio, volumetric efficiency and heat flow cannot be optimized at the same time. The configuration only taking the lift-to-drag as the optimization goal is difficult to meet the actual needs. The multi-objective optimization process obtains the non-inferior solution set under the three optimization objectives, which can provide a reference for the selection of CAV configuration in engineering.
