Production of jet-fuel range precursors from carbonyl model compounds in aqueous-phase pyrolysis oil of wood over La-based mixed oxides
Abstract
Medium-chain oxygenates as jet-fuel range precursors were produced from carbonyl model compounds in aqueous phase pyrolysis oil via aldol-condensation reaction on La-based mixed oxides. LaCeOx with high medium-strength basic site density related to the tight metal‑oxygen pairs of mixed oxides produced a larger amount of adducts as compared with commercial MgO and LaOx. Water in the reactant appears to have a positive effect on LaCeOx catalyst having tight Lewis acid-base pairs with carbon balance up to 100%. Acetic acid in the solution affected the furfural conversion and the amount of adduct due to competitive adsorptions on active sites.
