On the other end of the line, a slightly hoarse voice, accompanied by an unmistakable laugh. It is Mrs. Merce, at 81 years of age, you can hear her in good spirits. I can’t see her; technological problems have limited access to a video call. However, she chats and answers my routine questions with the good humor and accuracy that I have known her for many years
