Nazım Hikmet’s Echo in Spain
Abstract
Nazım Hikmet, who was born in 1902, learned Mevlevi sayings from his grandfather and learned French classics from his mother. His uncle was killed in Çanakkale, and Istanbul was occupied. The world was in a constant and rapid process of change. Nazim wanted to develop a different, new form that was suitable for this change. He respected the mastery of the poems all over the world, he knew the creators of those poems as his masters. Nazım, who was known as the "Turkish Poet" in the world, became a universal value in time and began to be accepted as a "World Poet". This study aims to examine how Nazım Hikmet, the "World Poet" was echoed in Spain, how he was depicted in the poems written for him, and how he was presented to the readers.
