Analysis of algorithms, visual language, gestural communication and mental numerical calculation of a common activity in several capital cities and large towns in Colombia is presented: the art of controlling the timing of urban transport routes, commonly called calibration. This social practice is exercised mostly by adults and generally men with little schooling. This activity has unique processes, the calculation in L, different digital representations and numerical gestural communication in general, that characterize ethnomathematics that could potentially contribute to mathematics education in the development of arithmetic operations addition and subtraction, where there are problems of teaching and learning. The research was qualitative and ethnographic in character.
