Prognostic factors of sudden sensorineural hearing loss: analysis of 254 cases LIU Jiali, LI Hongtao
Abstract
Objective To analyze the influencing factors on the prognosis of sudden deafness. Methods Clinical data of 254 patients with sudden deafness at different ages and with different hearing loss who were hospitalized in our department from January 2017 to December 2020 were collected and analyzed. The correlation of gender, affected ear side, blood lipid, age, course of disease, type of hearing curve, and dizziness or not with prognosis were analyzed. The prognosis was mainly analyzed for patients of different age groups. Results The total of effective rate of treatment was 61.42% for the 254 patients with sudden deafness in single ear. The effective rate was 72.57%, 57.94% and 35.29% in the 12~40, 41~60, 61~82 year-old groups, respectively, and statistical difference was seen in the 61~82 year-old group with the 12~40 and 41~60 year-old groups (P < 0.05). There were no correlation of the efficacy with gender, ear side, total cholesterol and triglyceride levels. In the multivariate logistic regression analysis on the prognostic factors (age, course of disease, type of hearing curve and dizziness), the results found that the 61~82 year-old group had the worst prognosis among the 3 age groups (P=0.005). Conclusion Age, course of disease, type of hearing curve and dizziness are related to prognosis. The prognosis of sudden deafness patients over 60 years old is significantly worse than that of 12-40 year-old group and 41-60 year-old group.
