Time of flight fast approximation method for ultrasound sub-surface imaging
Abstract
Time-Of-Flight (TOF) computations are needed in all ultrasound imaging methods. In Non Destructive Testing (NDT), where ultrasound inspections are frequently done using a coupling medium between the transducer and the test piece, wave refraction complicates TOF computations and iterative methods are needed, which hinders frame rate. For fast imaging simple approximation methods are needed. In this work we propose a TOF fast approximation method for the particular case of sub-surface imaging.
