This review article portrays multi-component reactions of acenaphthoquinone. Quinones are basically heterocyclic compounds which are used as one of the precursors for the synthesis of compounds with extensive pharmacological activities. Quinones and their derivatives have biologically active components, which makes them a potent drug candidate. Quinones, acenaphthoquinone and their derivatives possess pharmacological activities, most probably because of the presence of the quinoline and they act as a promisable drug. There is a wide range of reactions that incorporate acenaphthoquinone in the synthesis of heterocyclic compound. This review also provides an outline of spiro cyclic compounds which possess prime pharmacological applications from the time period 2003 to 2023. Recently the interest in studies on applications of acenaphthoquinone and its derivatives have increased due to its diverse properties and activities in the pharmaceutical field.
