In the last two decades, a plethora of energy efficient protocols based on LEACH protocol have been proposed by researchers. LEACH is one of the most prominent protocol for wireless sensor network, which is a self-configurable and energy-efficient cluster based protocol. LEACH protocol uses certain approximations and assumptions. In this paper, we tried to find what happens if these basic assumptions and approximations of LEACH are not considered. We have found that EelecRx plays a vital role in deciding optimum number of clusters and EelecTx has no effect on number of clusters in the network. We have also found that multi-clustering might not be required at some point and, at some point, number of optimum clusters could be as high as N (number of live nodes in the network).
