Current Approach to Diagnosis and Prevention of Pre-School Children with Wheezing
Abstract
Definition of wheezy infant comprises a complex group of diseases which have disparities in process and include different pathophysiological phenotypes. The four classical phenotypes are classified as early transient wheezers, non-atopic preschool wheezers, atopic asthmatics/wheezers and overweight/obese girls with early menarche. According to temporal pattern of wheeze episodic (viral) wheeze and multiple-trigger wheeze have been defined. Diagnosis and follow of wheezy infant is significant because exacerbations of wheezing or airway hyperreactivity in early years of life might be the first sign of developing asthma.
