The article aims to analyze the difficulties that Italian journalism is currently going through. We adopt a perspective that we could define as microsystemic. The social recognition and prestige of journalism have never reached such low levels, however there are situations where, at least some written and audiovisual media, have demonstrate prestige, authority, and professional capabilities. Therefore, as these virtuous examples show, it is possibile to interpret the journalistic profession in a different way, more related to investigative journalism and away from private interests, from bureaucratic and institutional routines. We will examine, in a specific way, two case studies: one with a local impact and the other with international one. The analyse will be conducted following a sociological perspective, taking into account the impact of media storytelling on the social system and on the organizations most directly involved
