Spirometry is a simple and valuable tool in the evaluation of Pulmonary Function testing in children with respiratory symptoms. The maximum utilities in paediatric age group is 111 diagnosis and follow up of children with asthma and other wheezing problems, although it is useful for screening of children with restrictive lung diseases. This requires accurate and reproducible spirometrie measurements, which should comply with the American Thoracic Society (ATS)/European Respiratory Society (ERS) guidelines. Training and refresher courses may produce and maintain good-quality testing, promote the use of spirometrie results in clinical practice and enhance the quality of interpretation. The use of correct ethnic reference equations is essential for comparative results.
