Solubility of palladium in water was enhanced by heating metallic palladium in a molten mixture of sodium borates and sodium carbonate at 1000 °C for 2 h. When 17Na2O − 83B2O3 was used as the sodium borate, 21% of palladium in the obtained product was extracted in water. The solubilization efficiencies differed depending on the chemical composition of the sodium borate. During the heat treatment, oxidation occurred on the palladium surface and the oxidized palladium dissolved in the media. Keywords: Solubilization, Palladium, Heat treatment
