ASSISTÊNCIA ESTUDANTIL NA EDUCAÇÃO SUPERIOR: mecanismos de acesso e permanência do estudante na UFPI

Abstract

The article deals with student assistance within the framework of the National Policy on Student Assistance, aimed at students of public universities and is part of the research entitled “Analysis of Student Assistance Policy at UFPI”.Through a bibliographical and documentary study, it approaches the National Policy on Student Assistance with discussions on access and permanence in public universities, especially at the Federal University of Piauí, presenting a brief contextualization of higher education in Brazil, in order to perceive as education is becoming a public policy of universal character, based on principles of democratization, facing the processes of social, political, economic and cultural inequalities.
