This article tries to problematize the senses of the processes of participation in the territories of the basic social protection of social assistance and to make considerations about the possibilities and challenges of the participative methodologies in the social work with families in the Service of Protection and Integral Assistance to the Family - PAIF. The purpose of this study was to present brief considerations about the territory and social participation, in order to support the role that participatory methodologies and work with groups play in the PAIF methodological design, and to discuss the correlation of these methodologies with the principles of intersectoriality and interdisciplinarity. sought to reflect on its implications for the interdisciplinary team at PAIF. It is concluded that although there is a wide diversity of methodologies, it is necessary to seek greater convergence with the principles and guidelines of SUAS.
