Said Pasha was born in Diyarbakır in 1832 and grew up in an environment that was familiar with poetry. He served as governor in numerous provinces, wrote the nine-volume history book Miratü'l-iber, and was an Ottoman bureaucrat with exemplary morals. He died in 1891 while he was the governor of Mardin. His grave is located in that city. Said Pasha had two sons, both of whom are well known in Bursa and Turkey. His eldest son, Suleyman Nazif, served as Bursa's letter carrier (a kind of provincial editorial directorate) for years before the Republic, while his brother Faik Ali Ozansoy served as Mudanya district governor and Diyarbakır governor during the armistice years. Nazif, who served as governor in various provinces in a manner similar to his father, published poetry books including Firak-ı Iraq, Malta Nights, and Hidden Moans. Fâik Âli, on the other hand, was a poet, governor, and published poetry books, with some of his poems composed.
