Business education before and in times of pandemic
Abstract
This research investigates the academic production in business education in the five previous years of the COVID-19 pandemic (2015–2019) and during the first two years of the pandemic (2020 and 2021). The method employed in this study was a systematic review. The research used two databases to obtain the literature associated with the research question: the Web of Science Core Collection and Scopus. 2.376 articles were published from 2015 to 2019, and in 2020–2021, 2.197 articles. According to the findings, in 2015–2019, the main topics in business education were entrepreneurship education, sustainability, international business education, globalization, and disaster management education. In 2020 and 2021, the main study topics were entrepreneurship, management education, business simulation, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and corporate social responsibility. This study is the first systematic review to compare business education publications before and in the predominant years of the pandemic. According to the analysis, the research results of the first two years of the pandemic did not accelerate responses for business education that were more tailored to the needs of organizations.
