Entrepreneurs are continually innovating in their commercialization methods since ancient times. However, with the introduction of the internet in business, the rhythm of innovation has grown exponentially. And the group buying sites are one of the newest trends in this market. This article intends to characterize this segment as well as its actors, while seeking to identify the strategies applied by these companies in their daily business. The research is composed by a quantitative, descriptive and census study realized in the city of Teresina, Piauí, including all group buying sites in the region. The work has found that although it deals with a relatively new segment, the companies operating in this field apply well-defined strategies in several areas, such as pricing, strategic partnerships and communication channels.
