This paper presents regional hydrogeological characteristics of the Serra Geral Aquifer System (SGAS) in the Paraná State. The hydrodynamic and hydrochemical characteristics were describe, by hydroestructural partitioning of the aquifer. Exploratory conditions were analyze as distance from the well to the structural framework, directional and tectonic analysis, lineament density and regional geomorphology. The main hydrochemical characteristics of structural compartments were present, indicating contributions of water-rock interaction and possible contributions of anthropogenic effluents into the aquifer. The model indicates that wells located in the area of influence of geological lineaments, with north-south and east- west directions have better production rates (flow and specific flow rate above the median). Dominated by calcic bicarbonate waters, especially in the waters of Maringa and Campo Mourão compartments. At Foz do Iguaçu and Foz do Areia compartments are described higt values of sodium, pH, sulfate, compared to other compartments. Knowledge of regional SGAS characteristics contributes to identify potential areas, reduce exploration risk and subsidizes the management of strategic groundwater resource.
