DOWN THE BORGIAN PATHS OF ENEIDA MARIA DE SOUZA
Abstract
The present essay connects the name of Eneida Maria de Souza to Jorge Luis Borges while focusing on evidence of the presence of the Argentinean writer in her history, in a game of doubles that affirms the theoretical-critical project made by Eneida de Souza. For the previously mentioned reason, the text analyzes a book, The Borges’ century, and two articles, “Biographing is metaphorizing the real” and “Madame Bovary is us”, written by the Brazilian author. As a form of argumentative construction, the image of Aleph shall be used as an imagetic prism that can be used to pass through the vast critical and essayistic field of Eneida de Souza because of the way that she appropriated details of her life, of small incidents, and was able to create interpretative connections and theoretical fictions. It also aims to establish a relation between two characters: Funes, el memorioso and Santiago, the first coming from a short story written by Jorge Luis Borges and the second, from a documentary by João Moreira Salles, discussing the field of memory, which was developed by Eneida Maria de Souza.
