Reading comprehension is one of the linguistic competences to be mastered in the acquisition of a foreign language. Since the approche globale plays an important role in the teaching of reading in FLE (as we already know), here we will analyse the most important features, its evaluation throughout time, and the criticism it has been subjected to. After a summary about the teaching applications from the approche globale, we will think about the future of the investigation in reading comprehension in FLE and we will establish a compari-son with the English investigation in that area.
