Relexicalization in Internet Relay Chat

Abstract

The article discusses some of the characteristics of the Internet Discourse which is regarded as a functional-stylistic expression of Modern English in general and the functional and pragmatic specificities of the internet chat by teenagers, in particular. Relexicalization is examined as a linguistic expression of speech which aims not only to win some time but is regarded as a proof of a certain electronic status.
