Throughout history, difficulties in learning mathematics have become a major concern of many professionals dedicated to the world of education, especially if we consider the high percentage of students failing the subject. However, the increasingly technologically inclined society demands high levels of competence in the area of mathematics. Therefore, the objective of this research was to identify the situation that students of Higher Basic Education of the “Ciudad de Alausí” school go through and recognize the complications that hinder students' learning and concentration in understanding Mathematics. An exploratory investigation of virtual classes indicated that students find it difficult to understand mathematical concepts because the classes are monotonous and other teaching methodologies are not used, causing them stress and overwhelm.
