Procédés de création du lexique argotique dans les textes de rap au Sénégal: dérivation sémantique et emprunts

Abstract

The language used in rap lyrics reveals several processes involving the slang. However, it is not the cryptic dimension that is emphasized the lyrics, but the playful nature and the issue of identity. In this paper, we attempt to highlight the process of creation of this lexicon with a particular emphasis on the derivation and semantic loans. Thus, we shall analyse the function of artistic devices such as the metaphor, the metonymy, the synecdoche or the loans, underlining the linguistic interactions between Wolof, French and English and the part they play in transmitting the rap message.
