This article presents educational tools designed for professionals involved in language training for adolescents and adults with illiteracy. First, the main objectives of the collection "L’image des mots" (edited by RAPEL association) are described, as well as the method used for its conception and distribution. This collection consists of three illustrated books, each associated with training materials that are part of a cultural, communicative and creative approach for teaching French as a foreign language or a second language. In a second step, the adaptation of these tools for heterogeneous groups is described and underlined, as well as the opportunity given to work on language skills in comprehension as in oral and written production. Finally, an example is specifically addressed for using the album intitled "Au bout du quai" with adult migrants. Some comments are presented from a volunteer trainer from the AGIR association who used it and from a learner who benefited from it during his language training.
