History of Collembola research in Belarus with checklist

Abstract

A comprehensive overview of the history of Collembola research and an annotated checklist of species in Belarus is presented. The class Collembola belongs to one of the least studied groups of invertebrates. At present, 113 species (4 orders and 15 families) have been identified in Belarus according to literary sources, eight of which require confirmation, 11 taxa were not identified to species. Furthermore, at least 125 additional springtail species can potentially be identified.
