A study of gems from the Roman era, set in pendants or on Avar rings, recovered from the VII-VIIIth century Avar necropolises, in ancient Pannonia. Among these items, glass circular cameos fitted with a suspending appendix bored through with a hole which made it possible to string them, a particular shape coming essentially from mid-Danubian areas. The gems were reused in the first place for their colour, even if the engraved motif is known (a Victory converted into an angel).
