The adsorption of OH species is of paramount importance in many electrochemical reactions of interest and, so far, it is frequently assumed that it takes place at potentials higher than 0.55 V. Here the authors demonstrate OH is adsorbed at more negative potentials on the low coordinated Pt atoms by CO displacement experiments and Raman spectroscopy.
